Recently, there is this close friend of mine who has been telling me about how many RP students she has met through her work. All of which are negative, for example, "DESPERATE".
Well, what can be done when society looks at people by their labels? We, RP students are labeled with: RP: Retarded People, RP: Rubbish People, RP: Rejected People, etc. Yes, we can say, we aren't! Many of us know, yes, we aren't.
However, it is not easy to change the typical mindset of the majority. Look at any discussion website, the topic about RP is lousy has been going on and on. Since RP started till now, even after they have witnessed their 5th graduating batch. It will still go on and on for 10 years or more, i believe. Or even if it stops, it will still be remembered by many in years to come.
RP will be the hot topics for jokes, sarcasm, topic for leisure, topic to show how "great" you are, etc.
Sadly, my own mother finds that you may be a top student in RP, but once you are SP, you are a goner. Sorry, but i beg to differ. I am 100% confident that if i am willing to work hard, i will do better than what i did in RP, at least better GPA.
When your family thinks this way of you, what about the society? Yes, they have the similar typical thinking and for some circumstances, worst mindset. When they ask you which poly you are from. You know that they will start processing their pretty labels for you straightaway. This is when, you will face rejections and sarcasms.
When you are accepted for a position and you mentioned that you would like to consider, they will "counselled" you into taking up the post. "You see, you are from Republic Polytechnic and it is not a top, top institution, so to speak." -Meaning: Accept my offer and stop choosing. You are not some elite, so when i offer you a chance, you jolly well accept it without a second thought. It's not like you can find another job somewhere else. So accept it like a good old dog and kneel down and lick my shoes.
Hello! Why are you doing all these? Both of us know the answer. That's because you find it hard to employ staff as you are picky, but ironically, you are short of manpower. So stop acting like a beneficent person. Hypocrite! Who are you trying to kid? I know how hideous the world is and how hideous you are. How can you tell me you are true, when your thick makeup can't even cover your heavily freckled face, let alone your hideous self?
Yes, i should not be choosy. I do not attend interviews just to reject the job. I ain't so free. But every individual can feel how welcome the person is to him/her. Every individual has the right to choose, something which i strongly believe. I am DESPERATE to find a job, because of the label which has been stuck on to me and no matter what the label cannot be shake off. It will follow me to my grave. All RP student will...
To me, RP has helped me gain knowledge. RP has changed me to accept others more positively. RP has shaped me into who i am today. A better person, than who i was yesteryear.
I was the old me when i started my campus life in RP. Someone who hates the RP's system. Soon, i grow to understand that RP is different, but it has its strengths, nonetheless. I did not accept others, i don't see the reason to. This only helped me get into unhappiness and dread. Just one semester, i gain the understand that, acceptance is important, be it ideas or people.
One golden sentence: The World does not Revolves Around YOU.
I am sure not everyone is other polys would gain that understanding. Because they don't gain that much exposure. How much have we endured and understand from this day to day routine? These routines are beneficial. There is always something that can be brought home at the end of the day.
Being able to survive that day after having to group with some lazy bum is a great job.
Being able to survive the day, after getting sabotage by your team mates is reliving.
Being able to find out the solution after your facilitator challenged you/your team is an accomplishment. Most importantly, you gained more understanding.
Being able to contribute in one way or another is great. I feel useful.
Being able come out with some solutions to a brain challenging problem, is a reliving yet fulfilling accomplishment.
Better than those who just sit, listen and take down notes.
We have to understand the problem, find out the key points, source for reliable information, source reference, pick out the main points, understand it, put it into the ppt in your own words, if possible.
Then present it in your own words, answer the questions posted by the class.
Try to understand other's ppt and find if there are questions that you can ask to help you gain more knowledge?
Sometimes, we are further challenged- we have to exchange ppt to present too. How tense can all these be?
Take down notes when all these are happening too.
(At least for SAS and SEG, this is true.)
Being in a group that is cooperative is great. Everyone does their job.
Everyone accepts one another.
Even if the whole group is lazy, but as long as there is someone who is willing to share the burden, you know who is a good team mate and who is not.
You learn how to view people and appreciate others more.
Still, all these that i have gained will not helped to change the perception of many others.
Not even those around me.
You can look down on RP, but please don't make a joke out of us. We aren't prefect, we make mistakes too.
You may think i am not open enough with your mindless joke. Yes, i am not open enough. This is me.
If this joke you cracked has made your day, do as you deem fit.

My Beauty Essentials
Been thinking of coming up with a post about the products that i have used and my comments about it (for fun). LOL! Pictures are taken from the Official website, Gmarket or Google.
Firstly, you definitely need to cleanse your face. So a cleanser is definitely a need for everyone. Of course, you have to find something that is suitable for your skin type. For me, i have super oily skin, that is not only affecting the T-zone, but the whole face. Something that is troubling me the most. Till now, i have yet to find a cleanser that helps with my ultimate problem. Why do i say it is a ultimate problem? Because with oily skin, a lot of problems results. That includes blackhead, pimples, acne and enlarged pores...
Ever wondered how blackheads results? It results when you have oil that is trap in your pores and it is white at first. It turned black when it gets contact with the air. There is one nasty thing about this is, it gets enlarged when more oil is trapped in the pores. So it not only enlarged, it gets deeper and deeper. I have many of such enlarged pores on my nose, areas near my nose and are before the apple of my cheeks. This is where there is the most oil excretion, of course.
So yes, i am still looking for one that is able to help me. Also, i need something that can help me to reduce the size of my enlarged pores.

Directions: Squeeze sufficient amounts onto palm, lather with water. Rubs both hand together to form the foam and cleanse face.
Oh yes, there is another thing which is important in your facial regimen. That is exfoliating. For this, i use the Ginvera Green Tea Marvel Gel. A new improved formula.

Most of it is as stated. But the degree of effectiveness, is really dependent on the individual. Initial usage, you can see the results clearly. But as the days goes, the results are not as visible to me. Blackheads wise, it is rather hard, due to my stubbornly oily skin. So exfoilating once a day is not enough to rid me of all the stubborn black heads. However, this product is good in removing dead skin, skin would feel supple and smooth.
Remember that exfoilating is important in skincare regimen. Imagine if you have layers and layers of dead skin and you apply mask, moisturisers on top of all these layers. How much of what you applied would be absorbed and benefit your skin at the end of the day? So this is a must. How often should you do it? It really depends on the product that you are using. For this product, it is a daily exfoilator. Some are those that you should do after 2 weeks or 1 month, as they are stronger.
Directions: Use it without water, squeeze out sufficient amounts and dab onto forehead, cheeks, nose and chin. Start the process, then rinse it off and use your cleanser to cleanse it off completely.
Thirdly, toner. There are many types of toner. Some contains alcohol, which are the astringent types. This would help to control shine and close up pores. But if you have sun tan or cuts, it hurts. This is where the Acnes toner which i mentioned above comes in. Similarly, it does not control my sebum production and it does not close up my pores.
In fact those strong astringent would strip the skin of the excess sebum and the skin would release more oil to make up for the loss of the essential oils. This is the same for cleanser with alcohol. Once i used C&C cleanser which yes, it can control the shine better, but it leaves my skin with the tightness which is so irritating.
I asked some of my friends and they have the same feeling. Yet one of them can tell me that it is good as it tightens the face. This is different! What a ridiculous and ignorant answer. The most ridiculous and ignorant thing is she continue using it. If after the usage of a product, it leaves you with a sensation that is not naturally, you should stop it. You feel the tightness due to too much scraping off of the sebum, leaving an excessive dryness of the skin.
There is a big rave over Acnes toner, which i really dunno why. Because, i have been using it since it was called Oxy, which has been years. I can't see the benefit, but still continue as i did not seems to find a better product that i would like to change to.
However, recently i came across a product on spree. It is not sold in SG. But it has good review from Japan to Taiwan. Now it is sold in M'sia. I hope it comes to SG soon. This is a product that i am sure it is not known to many. It is from the Mentho and Rohto. A combination of company and they came up with this product. It is definitely for sensitive skin, as it is free of mineral oil, alcohol, bascially it is natural and the idea behind this product is bring beauty back to the basics. Hada Labo skin care philsophy: PERFECT X SIMPLE. Find out more in the Facebook website or the Official Website.

A note: The texture will feel a little sticky, as no alcohol is inside. So you will have to press it to allow absorption. You will feel the stickiness going off and a refresh feel will be shown, showing that it has been absorbed.
The main thing is this product is cheap, $19. Some may find it expensive like me initially. But you do not require facial cotton, just use your fingers and palm. You only have to use a few drops. Those who smaller face can just use 2-3 drops, i use 5 drops, as i would save some for my neck too. The best time is, it is 170ml. That means you can use it for months. In addition, because it is so mild, you can use it on your body, like elbows, kneecaps. They said you can use it for your hair too. No issues for sensitive skin.
Directions: Besides the ones stated above, after use you have to pad it for absorption. Please don't slap yourself silly like the person on the hada labo FB video. You can apply to your eyes too, it is really very mild.
This is the full range: Moisturising Care, AHA/BHA Cleansing and Whitening Care. I am interested in the AHA/BHA, where it can make your skin appearance as smooth as an egg. As it has exfoilating properties for daily use too. For the moisturing care, there is the essence that hold more hyaluronic acid and the mask. I used the mask before, as it has more hyaluronic acid, the sticky feeling is more. But you will feel more moisturised. Don't waste the mask after using, use it for your elbows and kneecaps too.
For mask, don't use it daily. Adverse effect would result for over usage. Shall go on to the other masks that i like.

Directions: Remember to apply it evenly. Avoid eyes and lips. Leave it for 15 mins and wash off. Use it 2-3 times a week.

This is also another hit product in Japan, Bihada Moisturizing & Hydrating Facial Mask. The packaging is in Japanese comics figure. As it is said to be able to make our skin flawless just like those in the comics. Not sure about this, but i like the aftermath feeling when i took off the mask. It does not have the sticky feel, but it gives me a refreshed feel. Bought it from Gmarket, $3.90 per piece, mine you.

I have tried the pink, blue and beige. The supplier i bought from that time did not have the black one. But from the 3 colours which i tried, i like the pink and the blue. The blue is derived from cactus. The blue one smells nice. For the beige, i don't have much feelings towards it. One bonus thing about these masks are that they have high content of essence. After you remove the mask, there is another 3-5ml of the essence, a rough gauge. You can apply it to your hands and legs. Good! I will buy again! =)
Directions: Apply on face for 5-20 mins and remove. Use 2-3 times a week.
Note: For all mask, remove from the chin to the forehead. If you do it the other way, you will have saggy skin.
When i find that it is futile, i decide to peel it off, as it is a peel off mud mask. OMG! Its so hard and painful to peel. As for the parts that are not dried, i had to rub it off. My fingernails got it too, both when applying and removing. It is so sticky! I had to use water to remove it, even with water, it is still so hard! Yes, i do see the blackheads being removed, but...
I asked for advice from the supplier and no reply has been made. I should blacklist the supplier for such a product and such a "hack care attitude" after the transaction. Other customers find it good. Really makes me wonder how they remove it...
Just a few days ago, i read a review from someone who bought the mask from another supplier. The customer said that she receive some samples before and used it. It is not of the same quality. The ones sold seems to be unauthentic and asked her to check her products. With such reviews, by right the supplier can adopt the "hack care attitude" too. But she replied and said that she will take note. See the difference! Anyway, i am thinking of throwing the mask away. Better throw it than continue and spoil my face. As my friend said it may enlarge my pores this way.
This is the Garnier Aqua Defense. I love the apple smell- antioxidant! This one here is suitable for oily skin. There is another one which is suitable for normal and dry skin i guess. Why is there a difference? This is because one with oily skin should not use moisturisers that are too thick and should be oil free. Some moisturisers leave you with an awful oily feel. I definitely do not need excess oil on my face for "extra coverage".

Next, the moisturiser. For days you do not apply masks, after toner follow up with a moisturiser. For days, you use a mask, use a moisturiser after the mask. For me, sometimes, i don't use a moisturiser after the mask too. But advise is, do it.

Directions: Just simply apply sufficient amount to face twice a day.
Next, i use the DHC Acne Whitening Gel. It is said to speed up the lightening of the dark pigmentation left by acne scars. Normal rate for natural lightening of dark pigmentation is 1 year. You can apply to the whole face to improve the condition of uneven skin tone.
Directions: Either apply it to the acne scars or the whole face.

Lastly, this is my acne pimple cream, Oxy 10. Been around the market for many many years. It is effective with the Benzoyl Peroxide content. It reduce the acne by peeling off the acne layer by layer. So if you do not use a moisturisers, good luck. You will peel like a snake. I experience it before and my skin was so dry. Awful feeling. The skin will take 1-2 weeks to peel off completely, but the aftermath effect is really good. But since there are moisturisers, use it. Even with the use of moisturisers, your acne will be healed too.
Directions: Apply to the acne, pimple when necessary two times a day.
The last step is the Garnier Eye Roll On.

Directions: Roll on both eyes two times a day.
Finally finished my post. Haha!
For now i need something that can help my oily condition. I don't want my face to be a reminder to others that they have to blot their face. I always see this situation: when people look at me or talk to me, after a while, they would take out their blotter and blot their face. Some will only do that when i turn away, but when i turned back i would see them blotting. I didn't know my face has such a usage. T_T
Of course there is another step that is important, which is sun block. Something i never use. For those who use sun block with colour, remember to remove it at the end of the day with make up remover! Alternatively, use BB cream with SPF coverage.

Officially Graduated! =)

Yes, i have officially graduated from RP yesterday. From the hate RP feelings to the numb feeling, to aiming to take up new challenges, to wanting to excel in the new challenges. 3 years in RP had changed me and resulted in who i am today. Or i should say 3 and a half years, because ADPP is supposedly to be completed in 1 semester, adding up to a total of 7 semesters actually. But we finished it in 6 semesters. Even in my sec sch life i took the slower pace. So this is really an advanced stage for me. However, i am glad that i have made it through.
And i didn't know graduation can be that tiring. I got to queue up for ordering of photos, to take foc photos, to get my Club Republic Membership Card and to get my yearbook. Amongst these, the Club Republic gave me a paper bag from Brightsparks which added on to my "luggage" and the yearbook was so thick that further weight was added. Heavy is the word to describe. Especially when i have to bring over and bring home that graduation attire of mine. Now it is back in the plastic bag when i bought it. What can i do with it? I have no idea.
Glad that i could take photos with some friends and facis on such an important day.
Thank you, RP, for all that you have given me. I will remember you always. I will miss RP toilet too! =)

No, it's next year.
This is a conversation which happened around 7.05pm.
Mum: Why did you take this blouse out? Want to iron is it? (After seeing that i brought it out and hung it on the wardrobe door)
Me: Yes.
Mum: You need to wear this is it?
Me: I need it for tomorrow's graduation.
Mum: You are graduating tomorrow meh?
Me: No, next year. Next year.
Mum: Next year? What is today's date?
Me: No la, next year.
我的过去,你不常参与。
我的未来,你将缺席。
Weird. Who scared who?
There is a ginger cat who came over just now to look for my neighbour's cat. It kept sniffing around the places where she had left her unique smell over. It was mewing so loudly. No idea where it came from. I must say that the ginger cat is really charming/beautiful. (Unsure of its gender.)
But it should not stay here, as they have the tendency to come again and again, if you do not chase them away. I did not exactly chase it away, i just shoo it over at my window. When i wanted to open the window bigger to get a better look, it was gone in a flash. OMG! Was it a real cat that i have seen? I guess so.
After that, i thought about this, i was applying a facial mask. I don't think stray cats have seen any humans on a facial mask before...

This is GREAT!
Just 2 days to my graduation, i found out that after i changed the motherboard at Fujitsu, my current SD card cannot be detected. Not only that, it would make all my programmes stop responding and my desktop would go blank. But once, i remove it, it is back to normal.
This is actually not my SD card, it is my bro's. He bought this and his laptop has the same problem as me, while i can then. So he exchange it with my Toshiba SD. So now he has 1 that is functioning, while i have the stupid Kingston SD that doesn't work for me.
How am i going to take photos??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I didn't know that Fujitsu does not like Kingston SD. Previously, when i reformatted my laptop in RP, it seems to be some disc which they coop from Acer.
Actually, i do not like Kingston at all. Initially when my uncle gave us this second-hand camera with his Kingston SD card. And i tell you, it rocks man, it played S.H.E's song, when i can't even find the file in the SD card. 1st time when we used it, it is alright. 2nd time, it can't be detected by the camera. After i reformatted it, its still the same. It seems weird to me, so i threw it away.
With a lousy camera, i can't take nice pics already and now with an SD that can't be detected, i can't view, even after taking them.
Why is everything going wrong for me?!
Tough luck that i have, i have to go get a SD card tomorrow. Money fly away for nothing. I shall go look around for some decent shoes, if i can.
Adding on...
I just found that there are 2 SD, one which is the one i originally have- the Toshiba. Another is the Sandisk, which i think he bought it and it is 2Gb. So, i took my Toshiba back. Muahaha! It belonged to me originally and he isn't using it at the moment anyway.

Why i look forward to 11/05/2010 (Tues)?
This is a continuation to my previous post.
... Nonetheless, i will still be looking forward to it. I have stopped school for a year and gone back to school a year later, when all my friend of my age have already been in year 2. I started much later than others and ended much later than others. Watching them graduate last year, made me ponder a lot and yes, i am envious of them, thinking when its my turn?
Finally, this year it is my turn.
Finally, i have fulfilled all the goals that i have set. I have not let myself down- which is something i always believe in education. I am studying for the sake of myself, not for anyone else. No one else in this universe, other than myself. This is not a course that i wanted and it is definitely not my strongest subject. Chemistry is as complex as always. But everyone face difficulties in whatever they are doing- A FACT. A disappointing but true fact.
Next, i have not let the people who paid for my education down, especially to that kindred hearted who have sponsored me my ADPP course fees. And even when the fees of ADPP is reduced by 50%, he still sponsored the 100% amount which he promised.
Last but not least, its 3 years late, but i have to say PBL IS NOT FOR ME! Why? Results show... The awards are all related to the course structure of ADPP- workbook, a little presentation, theory and practical. Something different from DPHM, because there is a workbook, reference books to refer to and study from.
